Bull is all boy and lately he’s been completely fascinated by trucks of all kinds. When they started building a new house on our street that fascination became an obsession with all things construction, and we read his construction books over and over and over and over….

Since he loves to make things I decided that it would be fun to make some of the construction trucks from ?Harry Builds a House his current favorite house-building book”. The cutting and gluing would be good fine motor skills and following directions exercises and he would have something fun for a conversation starter to show to S in the evenings.

Here’s what we did:

Paper backhoe with moving arm and bucket

Making a pile of dirt for the bulldozer.

We had a lot of fun with the trucks. We ended up with seven of them: a forklift, a crane with a truss, a cement truck, a bulldozer, a roller, a dump truck and a backhoe that could insert pipes into a ditch. Bull really enjoyed building them, showing them to S and even playing with them! I’ll be posting specific instructions in coming weeks as I turn my notes into something I can do with Jack when he’s a bit older.
