Praying the Psalms: 31

Verse 15: ” My times are in thy hand: deliver me from the hand of mine enemies, and from them that persecute me.”

I think we can expand the concept of enemies to include those things that we struggle against as well: the enemies of our peace as it were.

For me as someone who struggles to be organized and accomplish what is necessary it is easy to allow the distractions and interruptions of the day to shatter my ability to approach life peacefully. It is helpful to remember that “my times are in Thy hand” and that both the accomplishing of tasks and the interruptions are given to me.

Seeing interruptions as gifts moves them from the annoyance column to the blessing column and changes the way I intereact with them.

“To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under heaven.” Ecclesiastes 3:1

Yes, there is a time for changing diapers, a time for dealing with tantrums, and a season for being interrupted at every turn. We are given these things for a time and then they pass away and a new time is given to us. What a comforting thought.
