Collect for Proper 13
O Lord, we beseech thee, let thy continual pity cleanse and defend thy Church; and, because it cannot continue in safety without thy succor, preserve it evermore
by thy help and goodness; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth
with thee and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

What is the safety of the Church? We think immediately of persecution and such but what about maintaining sound doctrine and teaching and a vibrant community life? What are we doing by God’s help to continue the Church in those areas? What is God doing?
