2:1 Conference Thoughts

Hmmm introductions are always tricky, virtual ones even more so…

I’ve been blogging since August of 2010. The original idea was to talk about frugal living a lot more than I do – that’s the “Chicken Bones” part of the name. My oldest child will be six this week and we’ve been doing “school” since he was about 18 months old. I’m a second generation homeschooler and have been teaching off and on since I was 16. “Sticks and Stones” refers to my belief that it is important to give children opportunities and encouragement to create with the things they find. This can sometimes have interesting results

I think my greatest strength as a homeschooler (and as a person) is a desire to help my children discover and build up their gifts while not neglecting to strengthen their weak points. I believe everyone can be good at something and emulate their Creator by creating in some way, and my job as a teacher and parent is to help them figure out what that “something” is.

I have dreams of travel but they tend to include the children. Really all I need is a few uninterrupted hours each week to plan and think, maybe write although I’m getting better at doing that in drips and dribbles of time!

I’m hoping to connect with some fellow bloggers/homeschool Moms, looking for some encouragement and mentoring as that’s not something we have in our present situation with church and community. I’d like to develop the blog a bit but tend to think that that will happen in the Lord’s time and I don’t need to be chasing traffic etc.

A friend encouraged me to go to the 2:1 Conference and my husband said we could make it work so here I go!
