Praying the Psalms: 20, 21:1-7

After a week of prayers mostly having to do with ourselves and our needs and thanksgivings, we finish the week focusing on others.

Psalm 20:

The LORD hear thee in the day of trouble; the name of the God of Jacob defend thee;

2 Send thee help from the sanctuary, and strengthen thee out of Zion;

3 Remember all thy offerings, and accept thy burnt sacrifice; Selah.

Selah: Stop and think about it for a little. Let those words get into your consciousness. Repeat them slowly aloud, what do they mean?

“The Lord hear thee…send thee help” Are you the Lord’s ears? Are you the help that is sent? Or are your prayers for others merely “best wishes” with nothing behind them?
