Moving

Somehow this house just looks like New England to me!

Somehow this house just looks like New England to me!

It’s been a little crazy around here lately and will be getting crazier over the next few weeks.

We are moving. Not just across town to a bigger house or yard. Not just to a different part of the state (we’ve done that before).

This time we are moving out of the South and into the Northeast. Virginia to Massachusetts. A complete change of environment, job for S, church, friends, everything.

Should be interesting. It’s definitely exciting.

So much to do- packing, planning, Christmas, making new contacts, figuring out how Bull’s speech therapy will work up there etc. etc. I have a million lists already!

Things already look chaotic and we're just getting started!

Things already look chaotic and we’re just getting started!

Then too there’s the whole thing of changes in routine and environment and how that works for my routine dependent children. They are excited- I hear something about snow at least ten times a day, but there is an underlying uneasiness over changes that comes out in odd places. More tears are likely from Mouse and more physical pestering. We seem to have taken a giant step back in her understanding of personal space and her hands, hair and other objects are constantly in her mouth.

Buggle is obsessing about things. He’s happier with a job to do, so I’ve given him the task of packing up books. He’s packed up quite a few already but gets quite agitated if I don’t drop what I’m doing to tape and label the boxes as soon as he has them full! I’ve started a list of other things he can pack when he runs out of books.

Bull is whinier than usual but that may have as much to do with an ear infection last week as anything else. He’s also extremely tickled by the idea of the new house having several features that our current house doesn’t have.

Jack is very pleased by all the boxes to play with, and honestly as long as he has his people and his trucks (not to mention the incredibly decrepit Eeyore) he’s pretty content.

I’m not sure how much posting I’ll do here in the next month. I’m planning to do what I can but if anything gets put aside it’s always this space. That’s the reality of life and while I hope to have more time for writing someday that is still in the future

I’m sure I’ll come out the other side of this adventure with plenty to say…K
